Match report A return to winning ways saw Leamington defeat Rowington this weekend at Arlington Avenue. Opting to bat first the villagers got off to the worst possible start losing skipper Scott Roger to the first ball of the match, caught behind of James Cowan. From there Rowingtons innings never really got going and on a good strip they were eventually bowled out for 192, only Gilbert 55 and Glover 33 took advantage. Returning allrounder Mark Davison excelled with the ball taking 5-27 off 9.4 overs and an outstanding catch at backward point. He was well supported by all of the bowlers who each took a wicket apiece.
In reply Leamington lost opener Rob Ainscow for 2 but skipper Dale and Colin Grant put together a partnership of 45 before Dale departed rather controversially LBW for a well made 27. This brought Davison to the crease who along with young Colin put the Rowington attack to the sword with Grant blazing away to a 59 with 12 boundries to put the game alomost beyond reach. A late flury of wickets saw Stanton, Ashmore and Zac Grant all out for a grand total of 2 but the cavalier Davison saw the III's home with a boundry laced innings of 82 not out giving him the man of the match award and he bought a jug too.
