Match report A glorious day for cricket saw skipper Matt Dale win the toss against visitors Alcester & Ragley and rather promptly decided to bat. First dig on what looked a good wicket turned out to be hard going for the Spa batters. A sluggish start saw the score board never really start to get going and wickets at regular intervals along with some accurate bowling made life difficult. No of the top 5 went on to dominate or convert good starts and it was left to the middle and lower order of David Lord 61 (who after some splendid stroke play did rather give his wicket away) Liam Killian 43 and Guy Stanton 30 not out to lift the score to a half respectable 218-8.
In reply A&R got off to a quick start finding the rope at will, with their skipper showing off a fine array of shots all round the wicket. 2 quick wickets off the bowling of Killian did little to slow the run rate down and the target was reached with relative ease in the 39th over. Young Asad Ullah bowled a tidy 10 over spell and he was supported well by Pardeep and Jim Gethins but the IIIs were never allowed to build any pressure and were left to rue setting a target which was probably 40 runs short of being competitive. Roll on next week for another home game against Tamworth & Camp Hill.
