Match report Leamington came away from their Premier division relegation clash with West Bromwich Dartmouth disappointed not to have come away with more than a losing draw having been in such a commanding position.

Winning the toss and bowling first, Leamington got off to a great start as Tom Lewis (2-46) removed the Unicorn's Campbell (17) and Leicestershire's Kadeer Ali (20) with the new ball. Warwickshire's Javid (14) soon followed as he was stumped off the bowling of Paul Best to leave the hosts on 57-3. However, a partnership of 88 between Poonia (38) and Tappin (104*) enabled West Bromwich Dartmouth to recover to an imposing total of 250-7 off their 55 overs. There were two wickets for Paul Best and a wicket apiece for Paul Rowe and Darrel Williams.

In reply, Leamington lost Mark Best to the third ball of the innings but skipper David Bailey (33) and the in-form Alex Phillips took the score to 76 before Bailey was bowled by Kadeer Ali. Tom Lewis soon followed but a fourth wicket partnership of 83 between Paul Best (27) and Phillips took the score to 174 and put Leamington in a dominant position. Phillips went on to make a wonderful 105 as he continued his fantastic form from the Kenilworth Wardens twenty20 competition last week. But when Phillips was caught and bowled by Aatif Ali, and Lee Hopkins was spectacularly caught on the boundary, Leamington ensured that they secured a losing draw to end the innings on 215-8.

This is another case of so close yet so far for Leamington as they will again feel that this is a match they should have won. Leamington are now 50 points adrift of West Bromwich Dartmouth in their quest to stay in the Premier Division.
