Match report The second XI made a disappointing start, losing by a handful of runs at Wolverhampton, having dominated the Black Country outfit for much of the game. Again, Paul Lawrence was the stand out bowler, taking 5 for 24 in two testing spells. Single victories for Will Field, Harj Singh, Jag Khurana and Max Webber had Wolves under the cosh but crucially a 9th wicket partnership of 35 saw Wolves set a score of 140 for 9 in 50 overs. Two quick wickets saw debutant Ollie Currill, one of four on the day for Leamington, join David Hawkes and they took the score to 70 before Hawkes fell for 34. Currill made 33 before succumbing to Ryan Quiney. The middle order failed to support Jack Hawkes and when he was dismissed for 28, Leamington’s last pair could only scramble to 136 – 9, losing a winnable match by just four runs.
