Leamington Cricket Club 2nd XI v Barnt Green on Sat 31 May 2014 at 12.30
Match was Drawn
Match report
Leamington 2nd XI allowed a strong position to slip and ultimately fought hard to avoid defeat at home to Barnt Green.
Green were inserted on an appropriately verdant wicket following last week's wet weather, and progressed almost entirely in wides in the early overs. Captain Jason Butler was involved in all Leamington's good moments, taking two catches and three wickets as Green reached drinks on 87 - 5. Only former Leamington star Darrel Williams showed much application for Green accumulating 46. Green gained the upper hand in the last part of the innings through Butts (54) and Owen (42*) and they will have been happy to close on 197 - 7.
Leamington started poorly and in truth never got going with only Jack Hawkes, with 31, making a telling contribution. Green whittled away at the Leamington line up and seemed to be in a position to claim victory with a few overs to go. However last pair Matthew Davison and Harj Singh were not to be moved, and Leamington escaped with a draw, if not many points, finishing on 143 - 9.
