Match report Once again a very strong 2nd XI just failed to bowl out the opposition, but, batsmen got in and stayed in and bowlers stopped bowling 4 balls!!
Batting first we made an excellent start with both Jimbo Williams and newcomer Matt Goately putting the ball away with aplomb, so much so that after only13 overs we had raced to 100-0. Both batsmen fell for 60 and 61 respectively. Dave Hawkes hit a run a ball 34, but the innings of the day was supplied by Manpreet Gill (72*)who with James Uddin(43) put the game beyond reach for Kiddi. Manpreet timed the ball sweetly (bat supplied by Silver Fox Enterprises!!) and looked a class act. After the 50 overs we had reached the giddy heights of 299-5
In reply Kiddi never got going in the face of some excellent bowling by Macca in particular, supported by firstly Matt Goately then Lawrence de Silve who bowled with good pace once again. Opener Layton was proving very stubborn whilst wickets fell around him and he seemed to have secured a very boring draw, but his dismissal in the 46 over sparked a wicket flurry and Macca had 1 ball at the no.11 to force an unlikely victory.... not to be. 18 points though and a much improved performance once again. NB. I should mention a very assured wicket keeping job done by young Will Dixon, excellent!!
