Match report Leamington came away from their Premier Divison 1st XI clash against West Bromwich Dartmouth with a vital 14 points in a rain affected match at Arlington Avenue.

Winning the toss, Leamington bowled first but were on the receiving end of some aggressive batting from New Zealand overseas star, Jeet Raval. Raval hit his way to 60 off 38 balls before being caught behind off the bowling of Tom Warner. At this point, West Bromwich Dartmouth had raced to 86-1 off 12 overs. The introduction of Khalid, however, stemmed the flow of runs as he had county professional Kadeer Ali LBW, before bowling Tappin to reduce Dartmouth to 128-3. Khalid (12-2-43-2) and Young, who continued his fine bowling performances this season (14-2-53-2) pulled the run rate back and restricted Dartmouth to 251 as they were bowled out in the 54th over. Only Warwickshire played, Javid, looked comfortable at the crease as he reached 71 before being stumped by Balac. There were also two wickets apiece for Warner and Lewis.

In reply, Leamington progressed to 24-0 before rain stopped play. As a result, Leamington had a reduced target of 147 from 30 overs for a winning draw and comfortably reached the target for the loss of one wicket. Phillips and Bailey put on 114 for the first wicket before Phillips fell LBW for 47. Bailey continued his excellent run of form to finish the innings with 82* while Tom Lewis was 26* to help secure 14 valuable points.
