Leamington knew that as long as they secured the same points, or more, than Moseley, then their Premier Division status would be secured for another season. While Moseley picked up 15 points away at Himley, Leamington came away from Shrewsbury with 15 points.

Having lost the toss, Leamington were inserted to bat and were soon 16-1. However, Alex Phillips and David Bailey (46) then added 106 to take the away side to 124-2. Leamington then found themselves 133-3 as Shrewsbury's middle over bowlers applied some pressure before a partnership 79 between Phillips and Tom Lewis (47) took Leamington towards a big score. However, both batsmen fell in quick succession towards the end of the innings. Phillips completed a magnificent 106 before being dismissed caught behind. His controlled innings allowed the rest of the side to bat around him. Phillips has had a fantastic season, with his current runs tally standing at 791 for the season. Lewis then fell in bizarre circumstances when his powerful drive rebounded off his batting partner, Jason Young (12*), to then carry to mid on who gratefully took the catch. Leamington finished their innings on 249-6 with Young hitting the last ball for 6.

In reply, Shrewsbury got off to the best possible start as they raced to 90-0 in 17 overs. However, the introduction of Faisal Khalid (12-4-30-4) turned the game in Leamington's favour as, despite his first two overs going for 14, Khalid picked up four vital wickets and, in tandem with Paul Best, pushed the required run rate up. Khalid had Bishop (47) LBW before a wonderful stumping from Balac removed Blofield. Khalid then had Foster (51) well caught on the boundary before bowling Cox to reduce Shrewsbury to 138-4. However, the game was not over as Leach (77) and Barnard (45) put on 106 for the fifth wicket and looked to take the game to the last over. Shrewsbury required 6 off the last over, but Tom Warner had other ideas. He first had Barnard caught off the first ball, and then a magnificent run out by Paul Best saw the end of the Leach for an excellent 77. Needing two to tie off the last ball, Parton hit the ball to deep cover where an excellent return throw from Phillips made sure Parton was ran out looking for a second run which secured Leamington's vital winning draw. Leamington's bowling at the death was fantastic as Tom Lewis and Tom Warner both hit their yorkers regularly to make scoring incredibly difficult. Shrewsbury's innings finished on 248-7.

A magnificent end to a magnificent match.
