Match report Leamington 1st XI finished their season with an accomplished performance against Wolverhampton and to finish in a respectable eighth position.

Batting first, Leamington's total of 263-6 was built around another excellent innings from Alex Phillips (131) as he ended the season as the leading run scorer in the Premier Division which is a magnificent achievement. Phillips ended the season with consecutive hundreds against Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton. However, at one stage Leamington were 76-4 before Phillips and Mark Lewis (37) put on 101 for the fifth wicket before Phillips added 58 with captain Rob Williams (41*).

In reply, Wolverhampton lost Worcestershire star Moeen Ali LBW to Faisal Khalid off the fourth ball of the innings, after he had hit eight off the first two balls! Khalid (15-5-53-3) helped reduce Wolverhampton to 22-3 as he continued his excellent form from the previous week to rip through the top order. Despite a stand of 64 between Jeavons (34) and Lycett, Wolverhampton were never going to chase the runs down and with Paul Best (13-2-45-3) making runs very difficult to come by, Wolverhampton finished on 215-7 despite the best efforts of Lycett who finished on a well-crafted 90*.

Leamington walked away from the game with a winning draw enabling them to comfortably finish in eighth position.
