Match report Put into bat on a green seamer friendly wicket, Leamingtons 2nd XI found early run scoring difficult as Walsalls excellent bowlers bowled with admirable control. Richard Swann and Dave Hawkes battled hard after the early loss of Jack Hawkes, who walked after being given not out!! The experienced duo took the score to 56-1 when Swann was adjudged LBW for 30. Skipper Uddin came and went without troubling the excellent scorer(thanks Carol Credgington), however this brought in Chris Stearn to join the entrenched Hawkes. Together they added a superb 129 runs with Stearn eventually holing out for 52. As the final overs approached, Hawkes and the free scoring Jon Allcock added another 45 quick runs, with Hawkes reaching a deserved century off the penultimate ball. A final total of 235 was a good effort given the quality of the early seaming overs.
In reply, Walsall got off to a flying start as Leamingtons bowlers could not replicate the control of their oppositions counterparts. After 13 overs the score was 75-0 and something had to change. That change came in the form of Faisal Khalid, who in 15 absolutely superb overs swung the game completely. So much so Walsall in the end were hanging on grimly for a draw. He bowled with excellent pace and more importantly superb line and length. His 7-44 return (all bowled or LBW)won him the man of the match award and ended Walsalls reply at 191-8. With other additions to the squad imminent, the 2nds have a very a good chance of winning the League
