Leamington Cricket Club 2nd XI v Walmley on Sat 25 Jun 2011 at 12.30
Match was Drawn Drawn 8 points
Match report
Once again Leamingtons Second Team failed to win a match they should have won.
Walmleys innings never really got going, they kept losing wickets at crucial times. Darrel Williams 15 over spell was instrumental in keeping the scoring to just 4 an over. All the bowlers supported well and the final toatl of 204 was and should have been well within the scope of a strong batting line up.
New opener Dexter Purser was given the task of batting through the innings and providing the solidity we have been lacking. This he did to perfection ending the 50 overs on 90*, the trouble was the other batsmen could not provide the impetus required. The next highest score was 19, and every batsman got themselves out. Singles were missed with alarming regularity and we ended up, frustratingly, just 5 runs short. In the last 3 weeks we have played teams below us and frankly teams we should be hammering. As the squads are going to get stronger from next week, there will be a few players a bit nervous come selection.
