Match report A disappointing opening game for the 3rds resulted in defeat away at Winchcombe. Bowling first Leamington found themselves in a spot of bother with Winchcombe easing to 90 off the first 8 overs. A typically miserly spell from vetran Rob Grant slowed the scoring rate. He was well supported by Billy Hallett, Asad Ullah and Will Field who all took 3 wickets apiece and eventually bowled their hosts out for 251 in the 45th over.
In reply the 3s did not get off to the best of starts losing Rob Ainscow in the 2nd over and Connor Grant shortly after. Rob Wollaston and Billy Hallet put on 95 to bring the score to 120-2 both dispatching the bad ball. Always behind the run rate and with the weather closing in Leamington tried to up the ante and lost wickets at regular intervals before bad light and rain stopped play in the 37th over with the score 179-9, leaving Leamington 30 runs behind the run rate. On the plus side Leamington did take 9 bonus points from the game out of a maximum of 10.
