Match report A good win Saturday saw the IIIs beat Exhall & Wixford IIs by 107 runs. Stuck in on an overcast afternoon Leamington's mature openers Dave Hawkes and Rob Ainscow got off to a super fast start putting on 77 for the 1st wicket inside 13 overs. Both players hitting superlative boundries before Ainscow departed for 33. Drinks brought about the next wicket when Hawkes hit the first ball of Birds spell straight to cover for a well made 65. This brought about a quiet spell where Exhall bowled with good good control and at 187 for 6 looked like keeping the hosts to under 220. But a solid 67 run partnership from the last 9 overs from Matt Dale 37 and Zac Grant 26 saw Leam finish on a competitive 254-6 off 45 overs.
In reply the visitors found the going tough early doors with a fine opening spell from Tom Davison who took 4-22 in his first 7 overs and he was well supported by Paul Lawrence 6-0-18-0. Rob Grant, Pardeep Kumar and Zac Grant kept things quiet in the middle overs with 2 wickets between them before occasional but effective off spinner Jim Gethin and the returning Davison wrapped up the innings with 4 wickets apeice leaving Tom D with final figures of 9.5-1-28-6 who bowled with good pace and never let the batters settle and Saw Exhall all out for 147.
The win sees the IIIs head into next weeks title decider against local rivals Long Itch in good shape.
