Ambleside v Leamington Cricket Club Under 16 on Fri 12 Aug 2011 at 5.30pm
Leamington Cricket Club Won By 36 Runs
Match report
Leamington U16's met Ambleside in the Fred Gardner final and produced an excellent all round performance to secure an emphatic 36 run victory.
Batting first, Leamington openers Best (63*) and Salmon (84*) produced an opening partnership which was very fitting of the occasion, of 160 from the 16 allocated overs. The partnership was a joy to watch as the pair timed the ball incredibly well on a slow wicket.
In reply, Ambleside were always behind the rate against some accurate bowling but finished admirably on 124-3, with Peacock unbeaten on 39. For Leamington, there was a wicket each for Saghzai, Cutts and Somra.
This is the fist time Leamington have won the prestigious Coventry competition.
