Match report Champions elect Norton Lindsey arrived at Arlington Ave brimming with confidence after securing promotion to the Premier League the week before although number 1 spot was still to be sealed.
Batting first Leamington got off at sharp start with Rob Ainscow hitting 2 glorious extra cover sixes but in attemepting his third was caught at long off for a quick fire 20.Opening partner Paul Wilson was doing a solid job at the other end but after reaching 43-1 a mini slump occured with the hosts reduced to 57-5. This brought skipper Dale and Rob Willians to the crese who steadied the ship with a 30 run partnership before Williams departed bowled for 10. Dale 33 and an excellent 45 by Shaun Williams who was ably supported by Nath Credg 13 not out saw Leamington close the innings in the 45th over 193 all out.
Nortons reply got off to great start and the champoins elect were 100-2 off the first 20 overs with the win looking a formality. The introduction of Wayne Killian and Rob Willians chaged this and with wickets falling at regular intervals Norton found themselves 168-8 with 5 overs to spare. The returning Nathan Credgington and the wiley off spin of David Lord saw an exciting finish esue where Norton needed 6 off the last over with 1 wicket remaining. Nath stepped up to the mark and with 2 needed of the last ball he cleaned bowled the tailender with Leamington sneaking home by 1 run.
