Bridgnorth v Leamington Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 30 Jun 2012 at 12.30 pm
Match was Drawn winning draw 14 poiunts

Match report Leamington lost the toss and with no hesitation the visitors inserted Leamington on what was a suprisingly dry wicket consisdering it was under water on thursday.

Swann soon departed LBW, a decision which the Bridgnorth umpire appologised for after the game! Wickets fell at regular intervals. Leaving the Spa boys reeling at 35-5, a steady partneship between the calm Hawkes and the aggressive Strangwood brought Leamington back into the game. Strangwood then fell for a well made 25. Credgington soon fell after which brought the ever reliable McCarthy to the crease who produced some devasting shots through the covers, before falling caught in the same area for a calypso 21. Lawrence and then Field hung around for a few more overs before the latter was run out trying to complete the seoond run. Leamington scraped their way to 135, Hawkes carrying his bat for 54.

A total in which Leamington knew they could defend looking at previous scores from Bridgnorth and the firepower in the Leamingtons attack!

McCarthy soon got his name on the wicket list, knocking the off stump out of the bemused Bridgnorth opener. Lawrence, as ever, was steady from one end. McCarthy then bagged another, thanks to a gravity defying catch in the slips from Swann. Spin was brought early into the attack in the form of Williams, who bowled accuratley and never went above 2 an over and was rewarded for his efforts with a LBW. Davison from the other end bowled with venom and kept the pressure right on the batting side, who already were looking less likely to achieve the total against a pumped up Leamington team. Davison after having two dropped at slip, found the edge again and the stand in keeper Gethins was there ready to pouch it with ease. After Davisons impressive spell Hawkes then brought Leamingtons trump card into the attack, in the form of Will Field, Who bowled fast and straight, picking up 3 quick wickets in a fast bowling masterclass! Leaving Bridgnorth staring down the barrell at 79-7. Before the heavens opened. Which, unfortunately, stopped any play from continuing. Giving Leamington a winning draw and the shell shocked Bridgnorth a limp losing draw.

Leamington can take great heart form this bowling performance, a bowling attack which would trouble better teams than Bridgnorth. Another chance for a victory next week against Kidderminster and hopefully kick start Leamingtons attack on a top 3 finish in the premier league.
