Leamington Cricket Club Under 16 v Shifnal on Sun 09 Sep 2012 at 2pm
Leamington Cricket Club Won by 81 Runs
Match report
Leamington's season continues to extend well into September's 'Indian Summer' following a comprehensive win over Shifal in the MCCC Lords Taverners Trophy Competition.
Inserted on a dry, slow wicket on a glorious day, Leamington made a patient start, adding 49 for the first wicket, before Jack Bewick was dismissed for 25. Josh Boorman once again anchored the innings, making a patient 50, before becoming one of four victims for Shifnal's Brammer. Josh Emery gave the middle order impetus with a bright 32, and Leamington reached a challenging total thanks to Will Field's, undefeated, 36.
Shifnal were soon behind the clock as Field and Joe Jones bowled testing spells. New recruit, and Belgian Under 19 international, AJ Gothoskar settled in to a good spell, taking three victims in a probing spell. Matt Davison bowled full and straight also snaring three victims, before Jones returned to clear up the last Shifnal batter, for his second wicket.
Leamington face Water Orton at home on Sunday, hoping to qualify for Finals Day at Harborne on 23 September, in defence of the trophy won in such style last season.
