Leamington Cricket Club 1st XI v Kenilworth Wardens on Sat 01 Jun 2013 at 12 Noon
Leamington Cricket Club Lost By 9 Wickets

Match report Leamington's poor run of form continued with a heavy 9 wicket defeat at the hands of local rivals, Kenilworth Wardens.

Visiting captain, Martin Donald, won a vital toss and asked Leamington to bad and were soon reeling at 26-4 on a wicket that offered plenty to the bowlers with the new ball after the wet weather last week. Alistair Wilkinson bowled a wonderful spell first up as returned figures of 3-5 off six overs while there was a wicket for former Leamington player, Jason Young. Captain David Bailey and Simon Magill set about re-building the innings and once the new ball was seen off, and the sun dried the wicket out, things got easier as the pair put on 81 for the fifth wicket before Magill departed for 39. After that, wickets continued to fall to Kotak (3-47) and Hancock (2-26). However, Bailey was doing his best to take his team to a score they could look to defend and when he fell for 69 towards the end of the innings, some late blows from Olly Williams (18) and Faisal Khalid (14*)took Leamington to 162 all out.

In reply, with the wicket not offering as much movement as in the first innings, Wardens got off to a flyer as the Leamington bowlers were not able to apply the same pressure that the Wardens opening bowlers created. Nick Seager ended any hopes of a Leamington victory as he hit his way to 56 off only 43 balls in an opening partnership of 72 with Keith Bell. But when he was out, that was to be the only success for Leamington as Bell (41*) carried his bat alongside the more aggressive Tom Allin (63*). The pair put on an unbeaten 92 to secure an emphatic 9 wicket victory to take Wardens to the top of the table.
