Match report Heartbreak for Leamington who remain bottom of the pile following a narrow defeat at home to Barnards Green.

Batting first on a beautiful day, Leamington made good progress against the Malvern sides varied attack. Opener Shabaaz Alam led from the front passing the century mark for the first time with the Club. He made 102 at a run-a-ball with 15 x 4s and 2 x 6s, before becoming one of three victims for Worcestershire's Graeme Cessford. Leamington's supporting batsmen chipped in with Paul Best making 36, though none was able to match Alam's dominance. Leamington closed on 260 for 8, seemingly a few runs light on a flat track. Former Glocestershire and Unicorns star, Mark Hardinges took three wickets for Green.

In response, Green's openers both rode their luck on many, many occasions, somehow adding 151 for the first wicket (Adam Dovey 75 & Mark Hooper 50), and ensuring the visitors were in the pound seats. They went in quick succession and Faisal Khalid struck three times in the middle order, but a generous supply of extras (38), and lack of a slow bowler was to ensure Leamington's demise.

Green squeezed home with 5 wickets down passing the target with 4 balls to spare.
