Match report Leamington suffered a second Bank Holiday weekend defeat after losing by 5 wickets at Old Hill.

Leamington lost the toss and were asked to bat first and were soon three down with Mark Best, Jonathan Wigley and Neil Smith all fell early at the hands of Lester (1-10) and Butt (2-18). Paul Best (21), David Bailey (31) and Rob Williams (29) all made useful contributions but not the telling score the team required. Leamington were all out for 155 as spinners Patel (3-21) and Cox (3-34) ripped through the lower and middle order.

In reply, despite losing Brosnan early on, Hingley (33), Patel (57*) and Howell (23*) ensured there were no slip-ups in the Old Hill innings as the home side won by 5 wickets with 4 overs to spare. Thornton (1-22) was the pick of the bowlers while Neil Smith (2-31), Paul Lawrence (1-41) and Paul Rowe (1-22) were also in the wickets.

Leamington now face the difficult task of over-turning a 27 point deficit with three matches to play to avoid relegation.
