Leamington Cricket Club 2nd XI v Walmley on Sat 25 May 2013 at 12.30pm
Leamington Cricket Club Lost by 8 Wickets
Match report
Leamington were given a lesson with bat and ball by an experienced Walmley side, and suffered a heavy defeat on Saturday.
The Spa side's total of 201 - 8 in 50 overs was well-below par on a dry wicket which offered some assistance to Walmley's slow bowlers. They were indebted to Richard Swann, who reached an undefeated 100 on the last ball of the innings. He received little support from his comrades, with only Jack Bewick and Wayne Killian making double figures. Three wickets each for Walmley's Cannon and Afsal.
In response, Leamington were able neither to restrict the run rate nor take wickets, and Walmley raced to victory with 20 overs to spare. Their 203 - 2 included 91* for George Allen and an undefeated 67 for Andrew Hendry, as they made hay against Leamington's bowlers.
Leamington will hope this was just a 'bad day at the office', and look for a better all-round performance this weekend.
