Stratford Bards v Leamington Cricket Club 4th XI on Sat 05 Jul 2014 at 13.30
Leamington Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
Leamington strolled to an eight wicket win at Stratford Bards.
The hosts were asked to bat first on a damp, under-prepared wicket and Leamington's bowlers soon made hay as the sun shone. Bards were rendered almost scoreless by testing spells from Steve Axcell and Gary Bass, who nipped out the top three batsmen between them, and fared no better against the change bowlers. 13 year old Robert Lord got the ball to lift spitefully off a length and was rewarded with four victims at a cost of only five runs. AJ Gothoskar grabbed a brace of wickets as Bards made a paltry 48.
Leamington's response got off to a poor start losing two quick wickets as the pitch's demons remained. The experienced pair of Wayne Killian and Shaun Williams mixed solid defence and attacking shots, as Leamington eased to their modest target in less than 12 overs.
