Match report Bobble hats were the order of the day at a freezing Arlington Avenue as Leamington's second string played hosts to Corley. The visitors chose to bat first on an easy-paced wicket and made a fair start through Paul Williams and Oliver Manning. The latter was the fisrt to go as Jason Butler won an LBW decision. Debutant Angol Kandola then struck twice removing Williams for 29 and Phil Evans as Corley faltered. Tom Warner, building up a fair head of steam, claimed two wickets and Corley were in trouble at 106 for 6 when skipper Jamie Phillips was joined by keeper Jonny Carr. They were untroubled as Spa eased off a touch adding 60 before Nick Couzens bowled Phillips for 26. Carr became the first of three quick victims for Ibi Afzal as Corley's tail folded to 174 all out in the 42nd over. Afzal earned 3 for 4!

Warner was adjudged leg before early in Spa's response but Joe Somra was joined by Afzal who struck the bowling to all parts. Riding his luck at times and taking advantage of a short boundary he plundered 55 in no time before nicking behind off Phillips. Somra followed for 22 and with Nick Couzens retiring hurt the scoring rate reduced dramatically. However Leamington had plenty of overs in hand, and although Corley claimed a couple of wickets, Jim Gethins despatched some poor balls with alacrity, ending 30 not out with Janie Treasure making a more measured unbeaten 20 as Leamington passed Corley's total with five wickets in hand. Two wickets for Phillips and a pair for mystery spinner Williams!
