Match report Another fantastic performance saw the III's beat high flying Ashton under Hill. On a green, uncovered wicket Leamington won the toss and inserted their hosts to have first dig. Opener Pearce who swings from the hip crashed a few early boundries but opening bowlers Cowan & Alcock both returned fine figures 1-32 & 2-35 respectively, bowling especially well at the death after the rain break. Stalwart Rob Grant was his ususal miserly self bowling 10-4-14-1 (which included a 6 !!) The bowling was backed up well by youngsters Davison T, Nathan and Danny Mills. All of this restricted Ashton to 200-8 off their allotted 45.
Beacuase of the rain break Leamingtons total was reduced to 165 off 37 overs. Openers Ainscow & Phillips got off to a steady start putting on 50 for the first wicket. Ainscow was in fine form creaming 9 boundries in his 40. The departure of Phillips sparked a mini collaspse which found Alcock and Dale at the crease with 87 on the board. Together they put on 83 for the 5th wicket with Alcock hitting consecutive 6's to win the game, leaving him not out on 46 and Dale 36*. Overall a great team performace which goes to show that when everyone is available the IIIs can beat anyone in the league on their day. The fight still goes on !!!
