Match report Leamington 1st XI recorded their first victory of the season in a tight low-scoring bottom of the table clash against Wellington.

After a delayed start, Leamington won the toss and elected to bowl first on a damp wicket and got off to the best possible start as Lloyd was spectacularly caught off the first ball of the innings by Darrel Williams off the bowling of Jason Young. This set the tone for the rest of the innings as the Wellington batsmen failed to get to grips with the wicket as wickets continued to fall. Wellington were eventually bowled out for 59 with Aucott (17) the only batsmen to reach double figures. For Leamington, Jason Young (8-4-19-5) bowled a fantastic opening spell and was ably supported by Jabarkheil (7-1-20-2) and Faisal Khalid (6.4-2-9-3).

In reply, Leamington found batting equally as difficult against a very disciplined Wellington attack. Despite an important 14 from Luke Radford, Leamington soon found themselves 39-5 and 45-6 and needed to dig deep to secure the first win of the season. Thankfully, Lee Hopkins (20*) kept his nerve alongside Darrel Williams as the pair accumulated the final runs to secure a vital victory.

Defeat will be especially hard to take for Wellington's O'Connor (15-3-30-4) as he took full advantage of the bowler friendly conditions to make runs incredibly hard to come by for the Leamington batsmen.
