Match report A second defeat of the season saw the IIIs relinquish top spot in the league.

Winning the toss and electing to bat Catherine de Barnes posted an imposing 262-2 off their 45 overs. Missing several key bowlers Leamington stuck well to the task but on a good track were unable to stem the flow of runs. Pick of the bowlers were Dan McCarthy 10-2-32-0 and young debutant left arm spinner Sam Forster 8-1-40-1.

Leamingtons reply got off to an excellent start with Hawkes and Cowan putting on 123 for the opening wicket before Cowan was dismissed for a well made 48. Hawkes was then unluckily run out at the non strikers end for 63. Leamington were up with the rate for most of the innings put the pressure of doing this meant wickets fell regularly and they were eventually all out for 248. A late cameo by Chris Calcot (20) was very entertaining but it was the 55 extras in the field that was Spas downfall.

A return visit to Catherine de Barnes next week gives Leamington the opportunity to avenge this defeat.
