Match report Leamington made the long trip to Shropshire on Saturday, and came away with a losing draw from the match at Whitchurch.

Rain forced a delayed start and Leamington batted first in a match reduced to 38 overs a side. On a wicket favouring the batsmen, Leamington scored at precisely a run a ball. An early wicket failed to disrupt Leamington and both Shabaaz Alam and Max Webber batted beautifully. Alam scored eleven boundaries in his polished 85, whilst Webber notched four maximums in his aggressive 63. A stylish unbeaten 48 from Mark Lewis, ensure Leamington took tea on a challenging 228 - 4.

An early break for rain, reduced Whitchurch's reply to 30 overs. With victory now out of sight, the home team set about chasing the winning draw target of 181, a feat they achieved in the last over. Leamington's bowlers were put to the sword as captain Omar Ali, brother of England start Moeen, cut loose. Me made 58 and was well supported by Ijaz Yousaf who was unbeaten on 61. For Leamington, Tom Warner, Grant Thornton and Nabeel Asghar each took a solitary wicket as Whitchurch finished on 184 - 3. Leamington took six points for the losing draw, but increased their lead slightly as the sides in second and third place did not play.

There now comes two important home fixtures with Brewood and near neighbours Coventry & North Warwickshire, which will go along way in deciding this season's promotion competition.
