Leamington Cricket Club 4th XI v Sheldon Marlborough on Sat 03 Jul 2010 at 1.00pm
Leamington Cricket Club Won by 9 wickets
Match report
A top-notch performance against Sheldon who had dominated the initial match of the season. Leamington played at WCC Staff ground on Myton Road, and a good opening spell from Paul Lawrence and Will Field restricted Sheldon's scoring opportunities. Terry Bright snared a victim, and then Mark Ryan bowled well, but without luck. The game changed with the introduction of Dan Mills, who took his first five-wicket haul, to leave Sheldon under the cosh. The returning Lawrence cleaned up the tail, and Sheldon were out for a below-par 110.
Mills and Stuart Budd made a steady start, and the arrival of Will Dixon brought the match to a quick conclusion. Hitting three large sixes and 8 boundaries, Will raced to 61* off 33 balls, notching his first half-century in men's cricket. Not even a second broken bat in three weeks could wipe the smile of his face (it was his dad's after all!). Mills was 38* completing an excellent all-round performance.
