Leamington Cricket Club 4th XI v Bearley on Sat 20 Jul 2013 at 1.30pm
Leamington Cricket Club Won by 4 Wickets
Match report
Leamington 4th XI maintained their promotion push with a well-timed run chase, defeating third-placed Bearley by 4 wickets.
Bearley batted first on a fine batting track, enhanced by a lightning quick outfield. Bearley attacked from the start, with all of Leamington's bowlers suffering to some extent. Bearley reached 179 in 25 overs at which stage a target of over 300 was on the cards. However, Leamington's slower bowlers reined in Bearley, as they finished on a commanding 270 - 6 in 45 overs. One wicket apiece for Leamington's six-man attack.
Fortunately, Leamington were able to call on the in-form Billy Hallett to lead their response and his fine 70 got Leamington off to a terrific start. All Leamington's batsmen made a contribution as the match remained in the balance. AJ Gothoskar made 27 and Callum Dixon 25, but it was left to another 14 year-old, Sam Forster, whose magnificent 63 saw Leamington to the winning post. Leamington made 272 - 6, a comfortable win in the end, with 20 balls to spare.
